NCAA Mascot Ban To Include State Names Next?

In his column today Bill McClellan makes a great point on the NCAA mascot banning fraud. His point was all states with a name that comes from Native American words and meaning, have to be banned as well:

I agree with Bill on this one, using the NCAA logic any state that has a name that comes from an Indian word and that word appears in the university name, should also be banned. Here is a list of the states using "hostile" and "abusive" names:

State Name Origin

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana (this one is real offensive isn't it?), Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

So 25 of 50 states (50%) are affected and should have the ban apply to them as well if this misguided logic is applied correctly...................
